Laura Sturgeon At the age of 12, Laura Sturgeon had begun her writing journey, which has led into the publication of a short story compilation, In Bloom, a junior fiction novel, The Big Ugly Sweater, a young adult novel, Alone in the Castle and a picture book, Where in the World Will I Find the Perfect Pet. Laura has contributed a short story, Pit Stop Peril for a collection of works by local authors, Port Alberniology, and has  written several editions of Our Voice, a publication for the Canadian Mental Health Association. Laura also writes the occasional news article for Black Press and is a regular contributor with Electric Mermaid at Char's Landing.

Kathleen Vance has a PhD in German (UBC) and taught workplace communication at BCIT for 30 years. Based on workplace interviews and tours of mills, mines and labs, she wrote countless stories that placed students in real-life dilemmas that they would have to write themselves out of. She co-authored with Dale Fitzpatrick the textbook Writing for Success (Pearson ERPI, 1998). In addition to writing a novel for middle-grade readers, she has contributed to the anthology Don’t Tell: Family Secrets (Demeter Press, Jan 2023), which may be preordered for 30% off with coupon code MOTHERS at http://demeterpress.org/books/dont-tell-family-secrets/. Kathleen is a contributor to Alberniology, RCN Media Publishing, 2021, available at rcnmedia.com. Kathleen trained teachers in Beijing and Hunan; published journal articles; and was a contributing author for Hard Jobbin' (Ride the Wind, 2001, Ceridwen Collins-West, ed).

David Kipling I’m a lifelong autosport fan and drag race announcer who has twice undergone race tuition. I run an archive website on British stock-car racing history. (www.oldstox.com), and have sporadically written autosport journalism. I taught technical communication at BCIT for thirty years. After six years of drumming classes under a patient professional drummer, I decided not to change my day job. My letters go out continually to editors, and I feed my happy addiction toreading and writing by taking part in groups such as THE ELECTRIC MERMAID in Port Alberni, through whose kindness I was able to publish a short story in their ALBERNIOLOGY collection.
