Wed, Sept 23rd, 8-10pm, Casual Concert – Western Canadian Music Award-Winner JOAL KAMPS  - 'Rocky Mountain Folk-Pop' - by donation pay what you can
Named after his grandfathers John and Albert, who immigrated to Canada as young men, Joal is a free spirit with adventure in his blood. After graduating high school, Joal spent four years travelling around the world in search of adventure and the ever-elusive self. He went from sleeping in a car for six weeks one harsh Canadian winter, to walking the runways of Italy as a male model during Men’s Fashion Week, to building and installing BioSand water filters in impoverished communities in El Salvador. From Asia to Europe to Central America, Joal went wherever the winds would take him. Perhaps that’s what makes his songs resonate with the sojourner in all of us.   http://www.joalkamps.com   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy9ihJxzKfM (Interview & Performance)

BIO

The foothills are alive with the ‘Rocky Mountain Folk-Pop’ sound of award-winning singer-songwriter JOAL KAMPS, who is passionate about connecting with people through the Arts. His honest approach to performing draws listeners in, and by blending storytelling with songwriting, Kamps creates rich stories of human experience influenced by Canadian history, his own personal journey, and Rocky Mountain folklore.

In 2014, following his WCMA-winning debut album, Kamps released his Alberta-inspired sophomore album ‘Heads Is East, Tails Is West’ – which is currently nominated for a 2015 WCMA. This new album debuted at #2 on Earshot’s National Folk/Roots/Blues Charts, garnering attention from international songwriting competitions and concert promoters alike.

Having performed 100+ concerts in 2014 alone, Kamps has already kicked off 2015 in a big way: touring through Europe and the United Kingdom, performing concerts in London, Paris, and Amsterdam as well as a host of smaller cities and towns.
