Sun, May 31st, 8-10pm, Concert –Dawna McLennan (HarpPixie!) - Harper-Singer-Songwriter-Spoken-Word
Music is a magnifier, that amplifies our human experience. I play the folk harp, laying down rhyhmic chordal layers unusual for the instrument; and sing sing sing, adding a loop pedal, to stack vocal harmonies. My repertoire also encompasses spoken word pieces, that have their linguistic toes deeply rooted in the earth’s colours and moods. When you hear ‘Harp and Poetry’ what do YOU imagine? Here’s some audience response: "I hate poetry! But I LOVE yours." ~ M.Wiedner, Kelowna BC. “When I first heard ‘Never Alone’ I played it over and over again for a whole afternoon. Love it, and all your songs.” ~ Jodi Foster "Your poetry is word painting. I have read every Rumi poem ever written, but have never been moved to tears, as I was hearing [I Am the Breath of One Tree Sighing]." J. Mack www.harppixie.com https://youtu.be/aPuEVoe1LHk

Dawna (HarpPixie) McLennan mighthave wings. Her voice might send chillsalong your spine - or maybe that’s yourown wings trying to sprout? The mountains are her muse. Eachsong leaves the listener standing ankledeepin mossy introspection, breathing alittle deeper, in the silence that unfurlslike a fern leaf after the final chords settle. “Transcendent.” “Mesmerizing.” “Captivating.”Colourful descriptors come out when HarpPixie takes the stage.Crystal-infused vocals, thirty-six harp strings, ecstatic love songs, enaging stroytelling, loop pedal layering, and even Spoken Word Poetry that leaves listeners agape, wondering how they ever thought poetry wasn’t amazing. Singer-songwriter Dawna(HarpPixie) McLennan follows etheric trails left by a Pixie muse, and her music soars onborrowed pixie wings.
