Jory Kinjo brings a unique musical history to his solo acoustic show. Kinjo draws from his experiences playing and performing Soul, Ska, Reggae and Rhythm & Blues all over the world.  Kinjo grew up playing old-school soul music with long-standing Calgary band, Mocking Shadows. With the Shadows, he warmed the stage for Canadian 3 tours with the B.B. BIO - Jory Kinjo brings a unique musical history to his solo acoustic show. Kinjo draws from his experiences playing and performing Soul, Ska, Reggae and Rhythm & Blues all over the world.
 
Kinjo grew up playing old-school soul music with long-standing Calgary band, Mocking Shadows. With the Shadows, he warmed the stage for Canadian 3 tours with the B.B. King and toured with other artists such as the Tragically Hip, ZZ Top and Buddy Guy.
 
In 2007, Kinjo toured Europe playing bass for Montreal’s Ska kings, the Planet Smashers. The smashers toured with punk legends Bad Religion and headlined other European festivals. This experience ignited a love for ska & reggae and inspired a new direction in his music.  This new musical venture has seen him since perform with the Slackers (NYC), the Aggrolites (LA), Fishbone (LA) and the English Beat (UK). Jk & the Relays were breakout performers at the 2012 Montreal Ska Festival and the 2013 Victoria Ska Festival. 
Jory has recently teamed up with former Planet Smasher and Mocking Shadows bandmate, Freddy B for his latest project, offering original rocksteady, soul and reggae music with 3 part harmonies, catchy choruses and thoughtful lyrics. The new band launched their project with a debut performance at the recent 2015 Calgary International Reggae Festival.
Kinjo’s recent performance dates include appearances with a wide array of artists from Long Beach’s Sublime w/Rome to South African jazz legend Hugh Masekela. Late 2014 saw Kinjo, along with the Slackers’ frontman, Vic Ruggiero share the bill with Ziggy Marley @ the Jack Singer concert hall in Calgary, AB.
