MEGAFAUNA is returning to Port Alberni in advance of their upcoming self-titled (third) album, out in September of 2026. The self titled record is a coming together of the unique styles of their live and recorded works, and represents a powerful statement of purpose going forward. The new album will be played in full, as well as favourites from their back catalog - currently totaling 13 releases.
MEGAFAUNA is an experimental artist, originally from Port Alberni, now residing in Hazelton, BC. Creating music as a form of therapeutic release, to cope with their own mental illness as well as the bleakness in the world around them. They combine experimental and challenging ideas with a surprisingly high energy live performance. They have performed at everything from coffee houses to music festivals, had their music featured in video games, and even live-scored horror classics Nosferatu and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. They are also creating music as VNRL and Grumm Trencher, producing a weekly, award winning, radio program called Syrup Moose Radio, and up to all manner of other creative endeavors. They have been called a "titan" of the Northern BC electronic music scene.
