Free Owatchet - Restoring Dry Creek at the Somass Lands @Char's
* WORKSHOP - EVERYONE WELCOME *
Mike Youds wrote...
it's a casual workshop with no featured speakers. Essentially, we are inviting participants to imagine/shape an alternative to the city's vision of Dry Creek mouth and surroundings (naturalization/restoration vs. commercial/residential development). I will introduce the workshop then hand off to three tables: Chris Alemany (Dry Creek restoration proposal), Dave Reid (hydrology, fisheries, etc.) and Theresa Szymanis (community watershed cleanup project).
Explore the possibilities for renaturalising Owatchet (Dry) Creek in the centre of Port Alberni, and redeveloping Somass Lands (old mill site) in the era of climate change and reconciliation.
Everyone welcome avtransitiontown.org
This is the sixth in a series of events, Port Alberni 2024-2044, coinciding with the city's official community plan review.
