Saxophonist Monik Nordine is joined by Nick Peck on Hammond organ and Miles Fuller on drums for a performance of funky soul jazz.  

 

Monik Nordine Trio has been featured from Stockholm to Vancouver over the past year and relies on the repertoire of the Sonny Stitt and Don Patterson collaborations of the 1970's.  Jazz organist Nick Peck is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist and composer, primarily known as a jazz pianist and organist who has performed across Canada and Europe.  Since 2013, he has resided in British Columbia, Canada where he is frequently found playing with many talented colleagues up and down the Canadian west coast. His style is marked by his ability to shift from hard-swinging jazz to pastoral serenity to elements of the 20th/21st century piano tradition at the drop of a hat, both hands equally creative on the keyboard, in a manner that is both constantly engaging and accessible.
 
Peck and Nordine have a great musical chemistry rooted in the blues tempered by the time machine, drummer Miles Fuller.  Miles Fuller is an emerging drummer, improviser, and composer from Victoria, BC. A recent graduate of the University of Toronto’s Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies program (2020), he has been privileged to study with many of Canada’s top musicians including Terry Clarke, Ernesto Cervini, Ethan Ardelli, and Nick Fraser. A musician since childhood, fervent curiosity continues to drive his exploration of musical possibilities and self-expression. Miles has honed his craft playing in festivals, concert halls and clubs across Canada, and plays regularly with the Monik Nordine band, the Avery Cantello Blues Band, the David Cruz Trio, as well as his own trio.
