Driven by a strong passion for travel, street arts and gypsy music, Jean-François Gasse has performed as an actor, a fire-eater and a musician on multiple stages and streets across Canada and Europe. After the release of his first demo "Quidam" recorded in 2008 at Grenoble in France, he set up a music band called "La Ritournelle". Together, they recorded two albums (Rose des vents, 2011 and Au "contoir" des nuits blanches, 2012) and did more than 180 shows since 2010 in the provinces of Québec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and in France. D'jef has been working on his eponym project since 2014. In 2015 he was invited for the Lab’A artistic residency in Brittany, and a tour in France followe11d. In June 2016, he released “Quitte à s'en péter les dents” under his stage name: D’Jef. With his eleven tracks, entirely written and composed by the artist, the album led him to do more than 100 shows and to add the Yukon territories, British Columbia, Mexico, Guatemala and Columbia to his already long list of travels.
