Baldur's Gate features a unique combat system where a player controls one character, while doing various activities such as hunting, gathering, and traveling throughout the game world. The primary objective of Baldur's Gate lies in "clearing" the dungeon towers of the Undermountain clan of creatures, which are believed to be worshiped as gods by their fellow dwarves. During this process, Baldur must fight and kill off dozens of creatures, and even some elements. Baldur's Gate also offers a choice of either playing the game using the PlayStation 2, or using the original version of the game for the PlayStation Portable. Both versions of the game include all of the original content, including the opening cut-scenes, although the PlayStation Portable version does not have the same voiceovers used in the original release.
Baldur's Gate features enhanced edition graphics that contain screen-scraping technology, along with remade versions of key scenes from the game.
