This Town Hall meeting has been set to let the public know about the recent work of the Vancouver Island Water Watch Coalition, a network of community groups whose focus is the protection of community drinking watersheds. Port Alberni's Save Our Valley Alliance is a member.
Following several months of preparation, VIWWC met in Victoria, on April 10th, with Vancouver Island MLAs to present both concerns about the vulnerability of island watersheds and four asks for government action. Twenty-five pages of background material were distributed. There have been two follow-up letters to the MLAs asking for response and timeline for action, and town halls are being planned in each community.
Our featured speaker on June 26 will be Torrance Coste of the Wilderness Committee.
You are invited to come and hear what's happening and to lend your voice.
