Those interested in learning more about the Alberni Classical Concert Series are invited to Char’s Landing to for an afternoon of snacks, information and entertainment. Members of the organizing committee will be there to provide details on the planned concert series and to share experiences from attending concerts in Parksville. Coffee and snacks will be provided and members of the organizing committee will provide background music (Dave Cox – Piano; Colleen Goodrich – Flute). The committee hopes to sell additional subscriptions before Christmas.

The following three groups, that we have tentatively booked, are willing to hold the specified dates for us until the first of January:  Bergmann Piano Duo - February 12. Borealis String Quartet - April 9.  musica intima - May 14

The Bergmann Piano Duo has a celebrated international reputation for exciting and varied concert programmes of four hands music ranging from Bach and Mozart to Gershwin and Chuck Corea. They have appeared extensively throughout Canada and the United States and regularly in Germany and Holland.

The Borealis Quartet has toured extensively in North America, Europe and Asia and performed to enthusiastic sold-out audiences in major cities, including New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Rome, Mainz, Shanghai, Taipei, Beijing, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and now to Char’s landing in Port Alberni. They are the only classical musicians to perform for the Prime Minister of Canada at the Parliament Hill in Ottawa for an audience of over 75,000. Since then, they have performed on every music series in Canada.

musica intima, internationally renowned for a warm and engaging stage presence, impeccable musicianship, and unique perspective on ensemble singing, has earned a reputation as Canada’s most exciting vocal ensemble. Their entirely a capella programme features music ranging from Madrigals to contemporary four part harmony, and they are recognized as Canada’s unique audience pleasers on tour.

We feel that $100 for three concerts of this quality is an excellent deal. Bringing them to Port Alberni saves the time and expense of travel to Victoria or Vancouver for those wanting to attend concerts like these.  Subscriptions can be purchased at The Rollin Arts Centre and at Char`s landing.
