Human Service Worker students at North Island College will be holding a memorial as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence campaingn.

This year is the 13th anniversary of the event, which is usually held on Dec. 6 to commemorate the students who lost their lives in the Polyytechnique Massacre in montreal.  However, the students will be organizing the event to focus its efforts more locally.

The event will be in the campus cafeteria with a ceremony and speeches.  Refreshments will be served. There will then be a short candlight walk to show support for victicms of gender-based violence.

North Island College is putting on this event in partnership with Alberni Community & Women's Services Society (ACAWS), the NIC Student Union and the Kinsmen.
