Sun, Sep 11th, 2:30pm, Meeting – Classical Concert Subscription Series Planning Session w/George B. Zukerman

Classical music lovers are invited to Char’s Landing to discuss resumption of a regular pre-subscribed classical concerts series for the Alberni Valley.  Initiated jointly by Melissa Martin [of Community Arts Council of the Alberni Valley] and by Charlene Patterson [of Char’s Landing] the meeting hopes to establish a concert society to bring in outstanding Canadian and International classical touring artists on a risk-free “organized audience” basis.  A parallel series in Parksville-Qualicum was organized in this way, just three years ago, and it is now sold-out with a capacity audience of 300 subscribers. 

Guest speaker will be the well known Canadian musician and impresario, George Zukerman.  Since his retirement from the International concert stage in 2012, he has devoted much of his time to assisting smaller cities throughout British Columbia to revitalize their classical concert activity.  Mr. Zukerman, who is a member of the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia, will be remembered by Alberni residents for his active involvement from 1970 to 1990 with the local Overture Concert Association.  [email protected] George B.
