Exhibit until Sep 7th – The Dolls of John Halfyard *NEW*

The Dolls of John Halfyard is a satellite exhibit of the Alberni Valley Museum created by 2016 summer students, Jonathan and Emma. Halfyard was a folk artist who lived in the Alberni Valley and started making dolls at the age of eighty-five and made over 200 of them in the nine years before his death. His dolls are quite quirky and unique, since he was nearly blind and deaf, working from memory and imagination, and using found materials to create them. The goal of this exhibit is to bring attention to some of the whimsical folk art in the museum’s collection by displaying it in public places. To find out more about the museum’s programs and exhibits, please visit http://www.portalberni.ca/alberni-valley-museum-0. You can also check out more of Halfyard’s dolls at the museum, located in Echo Centre (4255 Wallace Street).”
