The Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the arrival of our new board of Directors. Led by the Publisher of the Alberni Valley News; Ms. Teresa Bird as President, we have a diverse and very capable board to work with over the next year. Ms. Bird is supported by 1st VP – Peter Wienold whose participation in many ventures is unparalleled and unmatched. Thanks Peter! Joining him in the VP role is Mr. Jan Lavertu owner of West Coast Home Hardware. Mr. Lavertu’s vision for Port Alberni bodes well for the progress of our Chamber of Commerce. Just visit his store to see why we believe in him. Returning as Treasurer is Ms. Cherie Williams – Branch Manager – Scotia Bank here in Port Alberni. Rounding out our executive is Mr. Kim Heeks owner/operator of Jiffy Lube. Mr. Heeks holds the position of Secretary on our board of Directors. And of course we are pleased that our Past President – Mr. Neil Malbon is continuing on the board in a very active role. Neil spends his time, when not volunteering in one of his many ventures, as General Manager of Alberni Heritage Society which runs the McLean Mill and our prized Steam Train operations.
The Executive Committee is supported by Directors including: Mark Aussem –owner/operator Alberni Technology Solutions; Matei Mateias – Branch Manager RBC; Charlene Patterson – Owner/Operator Char’s Landing; Kris Patterson – Advertising Sales Consultant - Alberni Valley Times; Matt Williamson – Owner – Canal Beach, Jonathan Cross – Owner/General Manager – Hospitality Inn; Gord Groves – Store Manager – Quality Foods; Kevin Wright – Owner/Operator – Steampunk Café; Les Toth – Owner – Card Corner and Collectibles; and Bob Kanngiesser – Retired with a resume that needs one word only; Impressive.
