Port Authority Hosts Grand Opening of Wind-Water Sports Dock on June 17

“Rise up by lifting others” Wind-water sports launch dock to officially open

PORT ALBERNI – The Port Alberni Port Authority (PAPA), City of Port Alberni and South Port Kitesurfers are pleased to invite media and the public to the official “Grand Opening” of the new wind-water sports dock located on the waterfront at Harbour Quay Marina below the Lighthouse Maritime Gallery on Wednesday, June 17th at 3:30 pm.

Through this unique partnership the community now has a new, purpose-built activity float to create additional access to our mixed-use harbour. The community has already warmly welcomed these active water-sports participants and their large eye-catching, multi-coloured kites to our harbour as yet another attraction that helps make Port Alberni a distinctive and great place to live, work and play.

The event will include comments from Port Alberni Mayor Mike Ruttan; Chair of the Board of Directors for the Port Alberni Port Authority, Ron Crema; and the spokesperson for the South Port Kite Surfers, Dale Moffatt.

There will also be a display of kite surfing in the harbour, weather permitting.

When:  Wednesday, June 17, 2015
Time:    3:30 pm
Where:  Harbour Quay Marina Breakwater Floats (located on the water near the Lighthouse Gallery) at 2800 Harbour Road
