Join the Treasure Hunt

On Thursday August 30th the first 100 people to sign up for our first annual Treasure Hunt will be able to take part in the September 29th event. Adults only. The doors open at 8am and we will stay open until 5pm. To register for the Treasure Hunt you need to pay $35.00 and you will immediately get the punch card. A treasure map detailing where the shops are will be available closer to the event. On Saturday Sept.29th from 1 – 5pm hunters will visit each of the sixteen destinations and receive a gift or free sample and they will get their card punched. At 5pm we will all gather at the McLean Mill National Historic Site for good old fashioned barbecue, where you will be eligible to win lucky draws for prizes and you can take part in live and silent auctions. So, the hunters get a lot of free stuff from the participating merchants and the shops get a lot of traffic that day. Proceeds from the Treasure Hunt will go towards repatriating the huge, hand-carved, cedar focal point sign at the Visitor Centre. It’s a great cause and it will be a lot of fun. For more information on taking part as a treasure hunter or participating business, give us a call (724 6535).
The weather cooperated and there was a good turnout at the first annual Bulldogs Golf Tournament, hosted by the Alberni Golf Club recently. It was a pleasure to meet the players and play a round of golf with them. Let’s hope they made some money from the event. I’m sure the tournament will be the first of many more to come. Much thanks to the Bulldogs, their staff and the golf club folks for making it a great day on the links. Watch for a new campaign from the hockey club to gain more support from the business community.
Our next Networking Luncheon will take place on Wednesday, Sept.12th at Chances Rimrock Gaming Centre. The guest speaker will be none other than former cabinet minister, Stockwell Day. For reservations please call our office at 724 6535.
