Time flies when you’re having a good time! The Centennial Homecoming weekend quickly approaches. The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Homecoming Reception from 4:30pm – 7:30pm Friday, August 3rd at the Visitor Centre. Visitors and locals are urged to pre-register for the welcoming packages and gifts and the official Homecoming schedule – all of which we will be handing out that Friday evening. To pre-register, call our office, stop by or go to our webpage (avcoc.com) and click on the Centennial logo. By pre-registering we will get a good idea about how many packages to have on hand. We will have entertainment and some special treats from our local First Nations.
The Chamber takes to the stage on Sunday afternoon, August 5th at Bob Dailey Stadium for the Centennial Beards and Bonnets contest. The men’s beard judging contest is proudly sponsored by Archie’s Hairstyling, on Johnston. The men will be judged in four categories: best over-all beard, most unique facial hair, best moustache and best fake beard. The women’s categories include best bonnet, best historical reproduction, best bonnet under 6 years of age and best bonnet 12 years old and under. The women’s event is sponsored by EM Salon and Spa along with the McLean Mill National Historic Site. So, grow those beards and build those bonnets and we’ll see you on stage August 5th.
