March is here and we have already experienced some great warmth from the sun. In British Columbia it is already spring break which means the first salmon fishing derby has already taken place (Sproat Lake Loggers Derby March 6th and 7th) and the 24th annual Whale Festival is in full swing until March 14th in Ucluelet, located on the beautiful west coast of Vancouver Island.

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are offering fans a unique playoff package that includes a 2010 Chase for the Fred Page Cup t-shirt designed by the players, a playoff towel, and bumper sticker for only $10.00.

A Nanaimo firm, Georgia View Ventures, will be the general contractor for the Chamber’s new Visitor Centre building. They have indicated in their bid document that they will be using numerous Alberni Valley sub-contractors during construction. The project will take just over five months to complete. There were eleven bidders, one local.
